The SD Foodie take

Editorial commentary written from Roger’s original photograph and caption. Roger’s own words are the quoted photo note above.

The whole photo is a scale test: an open hand held flat beside a golden, crumb-coated chicken cutlet sticking out of a blue-and-white Hot-Star paper bag on a Mong Kok street.

The Cantonese caption says the cutlet was bigger than his hand, and the picture proves it. This is Taiwanese night-market street food doing exactly what it promises — crunchy, oversized and eaten on the move.

The quick critique

What stood out

  • A cutlet bigger than a hand
  • Crisp, crumb-coated crust
  • Eaten on the street in Mong Kok

Bottom line

Archive verdict

Street snack as spectacle — Hot-Star’s cutlet lived up to its “Large Fried Chicken” name.
