The SD Foodie take

Editorial commentary written from Roger’s original photograph and caption. Roger’s own words are the quoted photo note above.

The four-frame collage covers the table: fresh spring rolls with two dipping sauces, grilled pork over vermicelli with herbs, a plate of grilled meats, and cơm tấm with a glazed pork chop, broken rice, tomato and cucumber.

Pho Ca Dao is in the caption, but pho is not in the pictures — Roger went for the grilled-pork plates instead. That is a useful detail: the name on the sign is not always the dish worth ordering.

The quick critique

What stood out

  • Cơm tấm with a glazed pork chop
  • Bún thịt nướng with herbs
  • Fresh spring rolls

Bottom line

Archive verdict

A grilled-pork lunch at a pho house — proof that the rice and vermicelli plates deserve attention too.
