The SD Foodie take
Editorial commentary written from Roger’s original photograph and caption. Roger’s own words are the quoted photo note above.
The collage shows siu mai, a slab of ma lai go sponge cake, har gow and spinach dumplings, cheung fun, chicken feet, the famous baked char siu buns and the shop’s 添好運 sign.
This is actually one of the better tasting Michelin-rated joints in town, Roger wrote — others are just all hype. That is a sharp, useful distinction from someone who posted yum cha constantly that summer.
The quick critique
What stood out
- Baked char siu buns
- Ma lai go sponge cake
- Better than other Michelin names
Bottom line
Archive verdict
A Michelin dim sum spot that earned its star in Roger’s book — unlike some others.
