Looking back
The SD Foodie take
Editorial commentary written from Roger’s original photograph and caption. Roger’s own words are the quoted photo note above.
The cross-section is the whole joke and the whole appeal: carne asada, fries, guacamole and cheese, with a rolled taco tucked right in the middle of the tortilla.
Roger explained it plainly in the caption — a California burrito with a rolled taco stuffed in between — and tagged it fatty and food coma. It is a college-area creation that could only come out of a San Diego taco shop.
The quick critique
What stood out
- A rolled taco inside a California burrito
- Carne asada and fries
- A proper SDSU-area taco-shop order
Bottom line
Archive verdict
A gloriously excessive San Diego taco-shop invention, explained in one line.
