“Mediocre steak. Not worth it for SDRW”
American · Steakhouse
Roger found the steak mediocre during San Diego Restaurant Week at this longtime Mission Valley steakhouse, concluding it wasn't worth it for SDRW.
Hunter Steakhouse's Hotel Circle location in Mission Valley closed permanently in August 2022 after 52 years in business; the space was slated to become a new concept called The Remy. A separately branded Hunter Steakhouse later opened in Oceanside under the same name/domain, but it is a different address and not a continuation of this Mission Valley restaurant. This page keeps Roger's 2016 review as a record of the original Hotel Circle location, not a live recommendation.

Source-backed notes
“Mediocre steak. Not worth it for SDRW”
Roger called the steak mediocre and said it wasn't worth it for San Diego Restaurant Week pricing. (From an unpublished Yelp draft review, never posted publicly. "SDRW" is San Diego Restaurant Week.)
Stay in the neighborhood

Good for one thing in Roger’s book: a dog-friendly patio. The Black & Bleu burger was bland on a cold bun.

Roger rated this Mission Valley Tender Greens 4 stars, noting it's bigger but also much more crowded than the other Tender Greens locations he's been to.

The Mission Valley outpost of The Kebab Shop, a chain Roger has followed since its East Village original (still his favorite location); lamb doner, shawarma and kebab plates all deliver, though parking and lunch crowds are the tradeoff.
