One of the two omakase counters Roger named when asked where to take a visiting friend for sushi in 2022.
“…a visit to either Tadokoro in Old Town or Soichi in University Heights for their omakase is almost mandatory for raw fish lovers!”

“This place is giving Sushi Ota a run for its money!”
A full Yelp review beyond the brief interview quote already on file: sashimi combos and a chef's special were all fresh and well cut, including a whole sweet shrimp served both raw and then fried once the sashimi plate was cleared. The gyoza and a matcha green tea cheesecake for dessert also stood out.
Stay in the neighborhood

Roger's pick for the best cigar lounge in town, where Glen pairs newcomers with a stick they won't regret and the humidor system is dialed in.

Roger rated this 4 stars, calling it by far the best restaurant on the main Old Town strip, with fresh tortillas, a loaded fish plate, and attentive, fast service, despite most of the surrounding strip being a tourist trap.

On his first visit to this Old Town institution, Roger enjoyed the decor, roaming mariachis and a warm basket of fresh nacho chips brought out right away; despite a busy dining room, a server outside her own section still helped take and deliver their order, and his beef chimichanga with rice and beans had a good, fresh taste.
